On April 22, the third Transportation Science and Technology Cloud Forum - "Highway Tunnel Construction and Operation Safety Technological Innovation and Practice" was successfully held. This cloud forum was hosted by the Ministry of Transport's Science and Technology Department and organized by the Ministry's Scientific Research Institute. It continued to adopt a combination of online and offline methods and invited 5 experts to exchange themes on scientific and technological innovation achievements such as highway tunnel construction safety issues, highway tunnel operation safety risks, operating highway tunnel fire risks, highway tunnel smart security management system, and domestic tunnel safety production emergency rescue team construction.

At the cloud forum, Cen Yanqing, deputy director of the Ministry's Science and Technology Department, said that after years of development, my country has formed a relatively complete technical standard system for tunnel design, construction, maintenance, and operation, and highway tunnel construction and operation have achieved world-renowned achievements. With the increase in highway tunnel construction projects, the safety risks of collapse, sudden water and mud, gas explosion, rock burst and large deformation during tunnel construction are increasing, and tunnel safety has become the focus of transportation safety management. Technological innovation is the key support for promoting tunnel safety management. In 2014, the Ministry issued the "Implementation Opinions on Technological Innovation to Promote the Development of Transportation Safety", requiring the strengthening of technological innovation in transportation safety. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the National Key R&D Program invested more than 200 million yuan in special funds around traffic safety issues, and established more than ten projects such as "Research on Key Technologies and Equipment for Transportation Infrastructure Construction Safety" and "Research and Demonstration of Safety Assurance Technologies for Dangerous Goods Transportation Process", accelerating the construction of a transportation safety risk management technology system and promoting the development of transportation safety.

More than 10,000 people, including relevant business departments and subordinate units of the Ministry, science and technology departments of provincial transportation departments, co-construction universities, transportation enterprises, key industry scientific research platforms, and relevant project undertaking units, participated online simultaneously.
