On February 24, Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng met with German Federal Minister of Digitalization and Transport Volkmar Wiesing via video. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening practical cooperation between China and Germany in the field of transportation.

Li Xiaopeng pointed out that the friendly cooperation between China and Germany in the field of transportation has a long history and fruitful results, which is one of the important contents of the all-round strategic partnership between the two countries. Under the guidance of a series of cooperation documents between the two governments and departments, the two sides have effectively promoted the common development of the transportation industry of the two countries through the sharing of policies, technologies and experiences.

Li Xiaopeng said that the 中文 Ministry of Transport will actively implement the initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping at the Second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference, and further expand cooperation in the field of sustainable transportation with transportation departments of countries around the world, including Germany. Volk Wiesing said that the transportation authorities of China and Germany have continuously deepened cooperation and made positive contributions to the development of the all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany. Germany appreciates China's efforts to reduce emissions in the field of transportation. Germany and China are both important members of the International Maritime Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization, and are willing to work with China to promote emission reduction; and are willing to continue to deepen practical cooperation with China in the fields of sustainable transportation, logistics, and transportation digitalization, expand cooperation space, and strive to achieve more new mutually beneficial results.

Both sides positively evaluated the rapid development of China-Europe trains between China and Germany, and agreed to continue to support the close cooperation between the railway enterprises of the two countries. Both sides agreed to promote the implementation of the results of the first meeting of the China-Germany Transport Forum, continue to strengthen contacts and docking, and jointly prepare for the second meeting.
