Recently, the Ministry of Transport released the "Statistical Communiqué on the Development of the Transportation Industry in 2020" (hereinafter referred to as the "Statistical Communiqué"). In the past year, the transportation industry has adhered to the general tone of steady progress, based on the new development stage, implemented the new development concept, served the construction of a new development pattern, coordinated the promotion of epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, and provided strong transportation guarantees for the realization of the goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way as scheduled. In 2020, the country completed 3475.2 billion yuan in fixed asset investment in transportation, an increase of 7.1% over the previous year.

The "Statistical Communiqué" shows that as of the end of 2020, the national railway operating mileage was 146,000 kilometers, of which the high-speed railway operating mileage was 38,000 kilometers; the total highway mileage was 5,198,100 kilometers, of which the expressway mileage was 161,000 kilometers; the navigable mileage of inland waterways was 127,700 kilometers, and the country's ports had 2,592 berths of 10,000 tons and above; and there were 241 certified civil aviation airports.

In 2020, the country completed 9.665 billion commercial passenger trips and 1925.143 billion passenger-kilometers of passenger turnover, down 45.1% and 45.5% respectively from the previous year; completed 46.44 billion tons of commercial freight and 19676.092 billion tons of freight turnover, down 0.5% and 1% respectively from the previous year. Among them, the railway completed 2.203 billion passengers, the highway completed 6.894 billion commercial passengers, the waterway completed 150 million passengers, and the civil aviation completed 418 million passengers, down 39.8%, 47%, 45.2% and 36.7% respectively from the previous year. The railway completed a total cargo shipment of 4.552 billion tons, an increase of 3.2% over the previous year; the highway completed a commercial freight volume of 34.264 billion tons, the waterway completed a freight volume of 7.616 billion tons, and the civil aviation completed a cargo and mail transport volume of 6.766 million tons, down 0.3%, 3.3% and 10.2% respectively from the previous year.
