"Travel is now convenient. One bus can take you directly to Kangzhuang Station. It used to take an hour and a half, but now it only takes 30 minutes. This solves our travel problems!" Recently, Li Zhi, a citizen who was riding at Chongqing Tongxing Hub Station, gave a thumbs up to the newly opened bus line 533.

At the end of September this year, three new bridges, namely the Caijia Jialing River Bridge, the Shuitu Jialing River Bridge and the Lijia Jialing River Bridge, and the Tuzhu Zhongliangshan Tunnel (referred to as the "three bridges and one tunnel") were opened to traffic. Chongqing Urban Transportation Development Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. (referred to as Chongqing Transportation Development Investment Group) combined with public transportation big data analysis and simultaneously planned three bus routes to facilitate travel for citizens along the route.

Since the beginning of this year, Chongqing Transportation has accelerated the implementation of the "One Point, One Plan" Implementation Plan for Road Traffic Congestion and Chaos in the Central City in 2021, focusing on the "One Congestion and One Safety" people's livelihood issues, combining public transportation big data to analyze passenger flow patterns, rationally plan and layout bus routes, and build smart rail transit stations. It uses intelligent transportation to promote urban congestion management and really facilitate people's travel.

Intelligent data analysis and reasonable line connection

On the basis of the completion and opening of the “three bridges and one tunnel”, how can we reasonably set up new bus routes to maximize convenience for citizens’ travel?

In response to this, Chongqing Transportation Investment Group established a comprehensive public transportation model, integrated bus card swiping data and vehicle GPS data, analyzed traffic volume between bus starting and ending points, and used big data to summarize passenger travel patterns and travel characteristics. Three bus routes, 533, 530, and 964, were opened in the "three bridges and one tunnel" area with greater travel demand, and the full fare was reduced from the previous maximum of 6 yuan to 2 yuan.

Taking Lijia Bridge as an example, bus line 533 connects Lijia and Tongxing Industrial Park, effectively solving the travel problems of more than 1,000 people in the public rental housing area and the park near Lijia. "Before, if you took the bus from Tongxing Hub Station to Kangzhuang via Shuangbei Bridge, you had to take Line 576 first and then transfer at Caijia Station on Line 6. Now Line 533 goes directly to one stop, and the whole journey time is shortened from 80 minutes to 32 minutes." Office worker Xiao Liu said with emotion.

In addition to the above routes, on September 1 this year, the alley bus line 3102 (Nan'an Qingyuan Road to Chayuan Railway Station) was officially opened, realizing the effective connection between the branch roads and the main roads. For more than 30,000 residents along the line, it has become a reality to take the bus at their doorstep and transfer to the rail transit after getting off. At present, there are a total of 13 alley bus lines in operation in the central urban area of Chongqing.

A relevant person in charge of the Chongqing Transportation Bureau said that thanks to the construction of the "Urban Public Transport Data Intelligence Joint Laboratory" and the bus intelligent big data platform in the central urban area, Chongqing has built a four-level bus network hierarchy of "fast, trunk, branch, and micro", namely, opening bus express lines, standardizing bus trunk lines, developing bus shuttle lines, and piloting alley buses, which has improved the overall operating efficiency of the road network.

Intelligent operation of stations makes transfers convenient and efficient

In Chongqing, while bus routes are scientifically set up, information query and ticket purchase and payment are also more intelligent. When citizens travel, they only need to scan the QR code with their mobile phones to buy tickets; when the bus arrives at the station and which bus routes are in the area can be easily checked through the mobile phone app.

In recent years, Chongqing has actively promoted the construction of intelligent public transportation application demonstration projects. The central urban area has built a public transportation vehicle GPS positioning and 4G video system to achieve real-time monitoring of vehicle operation trajectories, automatic broadcasting of vehicle arrival and departure, and visualization of the entire operation process. At the same time, Chongqing Public Transportation has cooperated with multiple platforms to provide mobile app public transportation dynamic information query; 40 intelligent electronic bus stops have been built, covering 128 routes.

At present, all 684 bus routes and more than 8,000 vehicles in Chongqing's central urban area have achieved real-time arrival query. In addition, Chongqing has also achieved full coverage of mobile payment for public transportation, with card swiping and code scanning payment accounting for more than 96% of public transportation in the central urban area.

The application scope of smart stations is constantly expanding. At the National Expo Center Station on Metro Line 6, passengers only need to tap the comprehensive information display screen in the station hall with their fingers to see the arrival time of trains on both lines, the first and last departure times, and the bus routes around the entrances and exits.

"With it, passengers no longer have to worry about not being able to find the transfer bus and the nearest entrance and exit to their destination after getting off the subway." A relevant person in charge of Chongqing Rail Transit (Group) Co., Ltd. said that the National Expo Center Station Smart Station has initially realized the station's smart operation, smart maintenance and smart services by adding a smart guidance information system and establishing a smart safety management platform. 64 automatic ticket checking machines for exits can be opened at the same time, and the station's traffic capacity has doubled.

Long-distance passenger stations have also become "smart". At present, Chongqing has built a four-kilometer transportation transfer hub and a smart station at the Hechuan Bus Passenger Transport Center, which have realized functions such as face-scanning ticket purchase and intelligent vehicle scheduling, and the station transportation efficiency has increased by 50%.
